Photo Phnom Penh 2009 takes place from 28 November to 20 December and is organized by the cultural department of French Embassy, Phnom Penh (Cambodia). The second year of the festival attempts “to bridge the gap between European and Asian photographers through various exhibitions, screenings and encounters”, including “a significant number of Cambodians”. The festival is curated by Christian Caujolle. The work on show includes photographs by Korean Myoung Ho Lee and Slovakian photographer Martin Kollar.

Meanwhile in London, Beautiful Freaks by Ralf Obergfell “captures many of the key characters” who have “frequented ground-breaking London club nights”. Icons include Trailer Trash, Gay Bingo, GutterSlut, Horse Meat Disco. On show from 25 September – 8 November at The Dalston Superstore, London, UK.
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: ARTSWAY
ArtSway is seeking artists from across the UK and around the world, working in all media, to submit work for ArtSway Open 09. One artist selected for Open 09 will be awarded the prize of a solo exhibition throughout the ArtSway galleries in 2010. Exhibition dates are from 21 November 2009 – 24 January 2010. The London Artists Collective is now accepting applications from new artists. The London Artists Collective is “a collective of artists living, working and exhibiting in London, ranging in practices from visual to sound art to installation to poetry”.
If you are a London based artist: “We are currently expanding our circle: We want fresh faces, new ideas, bigger exhibitions and better venues. This will give you the chance to exhibit in London, and us the chance to ‘go on tour’.
