PHOTO FESTIVAL
Photo Phnom Penh 2009 takes place from 28 November to 20 December and is organized by the cultural department of French Embassy, Phnom Penh (Cambodia). The second year of the festival attempts “to bridge the gap between European and Asian photographers through various exhibitions, screenings and encounters”, including “a significant number of Cambodians”. The festival is curated by Christian Caujolle. The work on show includes photographs by Korean Myoung Ho Lee and Slovakian photographer Martin Kollar.

PHOTO SHOWS
Odette England has her third solo exhibition of her Attentional Landscapes series on show at The Space in Hove, UK. The show runs from 28 September – 13 November.

In New York, Jason Hanasik’s show He Opened Up is on at +Kris Graves Projects until 10 October.

Meanwhile in London, Beautiful Freaks by Ralf Obergfell “captures many of the key characters” who have “frequented ground-breaking London club nights”. Icons include Trailer Trash, Gay Bingo, GutterSlut, Horse Meat Disco. On show from 25 September – 8 November at The Dalston Superstore, London, UK.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: ARTSWAY
ArtSway is seeking artists from across the UK and around the world, working in all media, to submit work for ArtSway Open 09. One artist selected for Open 09 will be awarded the prize of a solo exhibition throughout the ArtSway galleries in 2010. Exhibition dates are from 21 November 2009 – 24 January 2010. Selection Panel: Amanda Farr (Director, Oriel Davies Gallery); Peter Bonnell (Curator, ArtSway); Benjamin Beker (Winner of ArtSway Open 08); Christopher Orr (ArtSway Artist in Residence).

DEADLINE EXTENDED:
Due to high demand, the deadline is now extended until 2 October at 5pm.

COST
Submission Fee: £8 for one work, £16 for two works, £20 for three works

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: SURFACE GALLERY, NOTTINGHAM, UK
Artists interested in exhibiting at the Surface Gallery, Nottingham in November this year can get “a reduced rate in November of £250 per week which includes a five-day exhibition, Private View with drinks and advertising, plus two additional days to prepare the space. Surface Gallery aims “to support emerging artists and promote diversity within the arts locally and nationally.

CALL FOR ARTISTS: LONDON ARTISTS COLLECTIVE
The London Artists Collective is now accepting applications from new artists. The London Artists Collective is “a collective of artists living, working and exhibiting in London, ranging in practices from visual to sound art to installation to poetry”.

If you are a London based artist: “We are currently expanding our circle: We want fresh faces, new ideas, bigger exhibitions and better venues. Our ethos is to work together and pool resources, so as a larger collective we hope to achieve more & benefit a larger number of people. Please see our website for more details.”

If you are an artist from afar: “We are also looking for a select number of ‘guest members’ for our exchange programme – artists outside of London are encouraged to apply. This will give you the chance to exhibit in London, and us the chance to ‘go on tour’. We are also arranging studio swaps where artists from different locations/ countries/ cities can swap studio space for a period of time”.
