A very quick post for those who are in the mood for a bit of photography window shopping. Ahead of next week’s auction to raise money for PhotoVoice’s various activities, here’s a glimpse of what’s up for sale…
You can view the auction gallery online.
And even if you are not a collector or art buyer, you can still get a flavour of the work and an idea of the expected prices and types of prints. This information is always useful as it indicates how certain images, or photographers are faring in terms of the prices that their work fetches.
I’m familiar with the organisation having helped in its early days with press coverage and promoting the organisation through writing magazine articles. I also was a trainer and project manager/co-ordinator for its On the Move: Voices from the Street project. It was one of the most rewarding but ultimately also one of the most challenging projects that I have worked on.
The photo that accompanies this post is by one of the participants Matt, who helped me facilitate some later workshops and became a friend and who sadly took his life in 2007.
As I will be attending the auction, expect a report next week after the event. If I had the money, there are more than a few lots that I would be bidding for. Till then, enjoy the virtual window shopping.
