There’s a sense of the dreamlike and dream states in today’s post with Gregory Barker‘s portraits under hypnosis opening in London on 11 February and a selection of Vikram Kushwah’s black and white series which won the Public Vote in Photofusion’s AMPS 10 show. Barker spends much of his time looking and dealing with other peoples photographs as he works part-time as an editorial assistant on Hotshoe magazine – so it’s good to give his work some cyberspace time.

Kushwah’s dream-like scenarios and fractured fairytale-like narratives also point to a visual exploration of the psyche. It’s refreshing to see black and white work of such a high standard and monochrome being used in such a considered way. For those of you who didn’t make the Photofusion annual members show, here are a few images from Kushwah’s series, some of which were not included in the show but are on his website.
