Photo Training – Tri-pod calls for applicants for one-day Personal Photo Project Development workshop @ Roof Unit in London

Forgive me for the next post which is a bit of self-promotion, albeit as part of the initiative Tri-pod which I set up with photographer Wendy Pye last year.

Tri-pod is calling for applicants for its one-day Personal Photo Project Development workshop to be held @ Roof Unit in London. Facilitators in the afternoon are Diane Smyth (Deputy editor of British Journal of Photography), Miranda Gavin (Co-founder Tri-pod and deputy editor Hotshoe) and Sue Steward (arts writer and critic).

Day workshop runs from 10.00am – 5.30am. Cost £85 for the day, includes a light lunch. 12 participants maximum. As we are not funded, we are charging a fee for the day that takes into consideration the costs of running a workshop, developing the course, and paying the people we invite to facilitate. Given the current and dire climate for arts funding, we want to set up a self-sustaining initiative with a professional approach that acknowledges and compensates everyone we invite fairly.

A great deal of self-promotion takes place via social networks and blogs and I recently came across a site advising that, as a rule of thumb, only 1:10 messages should be self-interest related, otherwise it smacks of self-promotion. With this in mind, I’m conscious of making such a call but think that it is within reason.

For more information about the day, visit Tri-pod and click on the Day Workshops tab to find out about the Tri-pod ethos and approach. Please forward to any networks that you think may be interested in participating or discussing the work of Tri-pod.
